In the mid-1900s, soap tissues were a handy way to carry and store soap for hand washing. The small sheets of soap looked and felt like tissue paper or the special paper used to clean eyeglasses. They could be kept in a dispenser or in small packets that could be carried in pockets or purses.

Soap tissue dispensers were used in Kluge Children’s Rehabilitation Center, University of Virginia, c. 1950s-1960s. Most of these dispensers were removed by the 1980s; this last one was removed in 2008.
