Traditional Lotus Shoes

These models of traditional shoes for bound feet are half as wide as and marginally shorter than real lotus shoes would have been.  Both shoes shown are in the style of the Shandong region- which is a north western peninsula just to the south of Beijing, China.  The red shoes are an example of overshoes, which would have been worn over two pairs of slippers.  The blue-green shoes are everyday wear shoes and are therefore less ornate.
